It is based on a story that Yoshida's grandmother told him over and over again during her lifetime, about how those who have lost their loved ones face and live their lives in dialogue with the dead. Five years after the publication of the prequel to this story, The Absence of Two, this book was published in 2022 as a limited artist edition of 43 copies, and was shortlisted for the Image Vevey Book Award 2023/24 (Switzerland) and the Kimura Ihei Award, but quickly sold out. It has now been redesigned as a Three Books edition and will be released in January 2025.

"The Dialogue of Two" will also be exhibited at KG+ in 2025.

"It wasn't a dream. While Yoshida's prequel "The Absence of Two" documents the two's daily lives until Daiki's tragic suicide, “The Dialogue of Two” follows Yoshida's grandmother for three years after Daiki's passing until her death at 88. Based on a 'tale' that Yoshida's grandmother repeatedly tells Yoshida, the book is a moving testament to those who have lost their loved ones and who continue to live in dialogue with them.
“The Absence of Two” was originally showing at KYOTOGRAPHIE 2017 to great acclaim in Japan and abroad.
