As a result of being caught up in environmental and socio-economic issues, the abandonment of coal mines over the past eight years has caused serious problems in the Cheoram and Taebaek areas of Gangwon Province. Halartec artists have continuously implemented various art projects on the themes of society, culture, history and the environment of these areas, and by expanding these experiences to the Seoul and Hongcheon areas and linking them with the experiences of artists from Japan, the UK, Australia and other countries, they aim to create an example of a regional yet international cultural arts project that connects the local and the world, art and history, environment and society.
