This book is the official catalogue produced for the exhibition "Erwin Blumenfeld: The Mysteries of Beauty" held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum from March 5th to May 6th, 2013. This exhibition was Blumenfeld's first large-scale retrospective in Japan, and featured approximately 200-300 pieces, including vintage prints from the 1930s, Dada-influenced experimental works, nudes, and color fashion photographs taken for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Among the works on display were 100 pieces selected by Blumenfeld himself as his "favorites," delving into the essence of his aesthetic sensibility and creativity. The catalogue includes these works and introduces Blumenfeld's artistic evolution and the theme of "ritual of beauty" that lies behind them.

Features around 200–300 vintage prints—including Dadaist experiments, nudes, and iconic fashion editorials selected by Blumenfeld himself—tracing his evolution from avant‑garde innovator to celebrated Vogue and Harper's Bazaar photographer, and illuminating the underlying “ritual” of beauty shaped by his personal history and wartime dislocations.
