≡Shoichi IDA≡

Graduated from the Department of Western Painting at Kyoto City University of Arts in 1965. Until the early 1970s, he produced colorful prints in a pop art style, but after that, under the consistent theme of "surface is the Between-Between Vertical and Horizon," he produced works that focused on the surface as the point of contact between images, mainly prints, but also drawings, reliefs, tableaux, fabrics, etc. He lived in Paris from 1969 to 1970 and New York from 1970 to 1974. He has received numerous awards, including the Minister of Education Award at the 10th Tokyo International Print Biennale in 1976 and the Polish Honorary Award at the 8th Krakow International Print Biennale in 1980.
